New Year, New Camera
Hello folks! it's me again with another quick and short blog post, and this time it didn't take me 17 months to do. As I mentioned in my previous post this new year is going to bring exciting new things to this site and new personal opportunities for me. But with the start of the new year brings new camera gear!
I recently purchased a brand new Nikon F100 off of eBay, i've been wanting this camera for quite some time now and I have been searching high and low for it so i'm VERY happy and fortunate that I was able to find one. For folks that aren't aware this camera was produced in 1999 and was Nikon's state-of-the-art prosumer / high end 35mm camera, falling just under the professional F5 and later the F6. The F100 was, at the time, one of the best featured cameras ever made and still remains the 135 camera of choice for film enthusiasts, wedding photographers, and many fine artists.
Coming from my all manual Nikon FM-10 was seamless and people coming over from any Nikon or Canon setup will feel right at home because the controls are almost the exact same as Nikon's modern DSLR offerings and are an easy transition from Canon's. You can effortlessly adjust settings by spinning the dials on the grip.
Perhaps my favourite thing about this camera right now is the fact that the F100 supports all of the current Nikon glass (lens) offerings, which makes it the right camera if you're a film shooter on a budget because it means that you won't have to spend extra money on lenses if you already own a Nikon DSLR.
I can't wait to play with it a bit more and take it out for some shooting when it warms up a bit over here (it's currently too cold here in Toronto for me to be outside for more than 2 seconds without freezing to death) once I do I will defintely share more of my thoughts on it and defintely share some shots that this camera produces.
