Drake General Store Flagship Store
There's a new Drake in the city that everyone's talking about. The Drake General Store just opened up their flagship store in Toronto on 2 Abell Street, For those who don't know what the Drake General Store is, it was founded in 2008 by Jeff Stober as a hotel gift shop to the nearby Drake Hotel and since it's inception its become one of the most popular gift, hobby shops and musuems in Toronto and soon to be Canada as a whole.
The Abell Street flagship is so much bigger than what I had expected like 5000 square feet bigger, as soon as you open the door it feels so homey, almost like you walked into your grandmother's house with all of the trinkets and small artifacts that they have to offer. Right in the front they have a selection of treats such as customized chocolates courtesy of Brandon Olsen as well as a coffee shop featuring Canadian Roasters. Also on the ground floor they have a one seat barbershop by Toronto's Crows Nest Barbershop.
The second floor features an ever changing pop up concept, currently that space is home to New Balance Footwear, The third floor which I didn't have a chance to visit is geared towards workshops, performance art and various other events. This new store is a healthy change for the Drake and addresses the not so popular pop-up retail trend by hosting events and collaborating with designers and artists regularly to create a unique experience. Check out some of the photos below of the new Drake General Store.
