Shinola Store Opens Up In Toronto
Detroit luxury lifestyle brand Shinola opened up a store in Downtown Toronto, located at 1000 Queen Street West Shinola looks to bring some of that Detroit flavour north of the border. If you aren't familiar with Shinola they are a lifestyle brand founded in Detroit that specializes in watches, bicycles, leather goods among other items, It was founded in 2011 it is named after the former Shinola shoe polish company that operated in the mid-20th century.
I had the pleasure of visiting the Midtown Detroit store in March of 2015, it was my first encounter with the brand and I instantly fell in love with the care and quality that goes into making a Shinola watch so I'm personally excited that they decided to open up a store in my own backyard. Yesterday while on my usual weekend walk down Queen Street I noticed that the Shinola store had finally opened it's doors, once inside it felt and looked exactly like the Detroit store in every way from the displays filled with stationary items to the bicycles hanging high above my head.
Since Shinola is considered a luxury brand, a lot of the items can be pretty pricey BUT the sheer craftsmanship and quality of the goods make the price seem minuscule cause just remember Apple is charging $1200 CDN for A PHONE, so what's $250 for a quality made leather wallet?. Prices vary from $50-$895 for leather goods and the watches range from $400-$900 CDN, the stationary items such as notebooks and pencils and fancy pens are the affordable items in there which range from $10-$50.
This store is a great addition to the ever growing retail landscape of Toronto so if you're ever in the Downtown Toronto area be sure to pop into Shinola and give it a peek, but also always remember to Say Nice Things About Detroit!.
